Q:  How do I know what speed chain I have?

A:    Count the cogs on your rear wheel, the chain needs to match the number of cogs.  Old road bikes were called ‘ten speeds’ but had only 5 cogs on the rear wheel.  These quick links are made for modern road and mountain bikes with 10 or 11 cogs on the rear wheel.

Q:   How do I install these links?

A:    If you already have a quick link on the chain, simply remove it, install each half on opposite ends of the chain, insert the pins in the slots, and put pressure on the chain to lock the link into place.  If you do not have a quick link you will need to remove one set of outer chain plates since the quick link takes up the room of one chain link, and needs to mount on either end of the chain to an inside link.

Q:   Can I use these links on a Shimano, KMC or generic chains?

A:    Shimano, KMC, generic and SRAM chains are generally interchangeable, so these links MAY work on non-SRAM chains.  Due to the very close manufacturing tolerances of SRAM chains, the manufacturer does not recommend them for non-SRAM chains, and performance may be unpredictable on non-SRAM chains.

Q:   The listing says these are single use- can they be re-used?

A:    Links may hold if used more than once, however the manufacturer does not recommend re-use.
